Children's Day

June 1st is a public holiday here in Mongolia. The sun was shining, some of the city streets where closed again and everyone was out celebrating.
The city was celebrating the adorable children’s rights day which is held every June 1st around the world, which is also called International Children’s Day. For this special day, the children here get dressed up and expect a pack of gifts from their parents, elders and friends.
The main square was filled with activities and people selling items for children. A group of us headed down to the square to see what activities where going on. There where people everywhere and as usual it was hard to get a good look at the official performances of dances and singing due to the large crowd. We ended up heading to one of the local eating spots for a bite to eat for lunch. It seems such a different place in the summer months, so many people around and the streets are a live with cars and people taking in this great weather. Summer only lasts for about three months before it gets cold again so it seems the Mongolian people make the most of the good weather when they can.
